The Ruins

Aside from the perfect summer getaways in Bacolod, it also boasts with its rich cultural heritage that can be seen in the historical structures along the corners of the city.

The Ruins in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines was built more than a century ago and was eventually preserved for tourist attraction.  It was formerly owned by a rich family in Negros but was burnt down during the Japanese-American War in the Philippines.

The Ruins is by far the largest mansion built in the 1900s that exhibit a grandiose engineering. Its vintage design is what makes The Ruins awe-inspiring!

Inside The Ruins

A little cafe for the tourists who  want to unwind while sight-seeing.

The mansion also has a spacious garden with a big fountain near the entrance. Other interesting stuff like a big chess board, little waterlily ponds, and sculptured body figures also add to the wonders of The Ruins wide patio.

Because of its antiquated aura, it complemented the setting of a local TV drama series, Ikaw Lamang (Only You) starred by Kim Chiu and Coco Martin.
This is the part of the garden where Isabel (played by Kim Chiu) dropped her diary)

P.S.
On our way home, we passed by an ancestral house called Balay Negrense which means house of the Negrense (a native of Negros). This was previously owned by a sugar baron in Cinco De Noviembre St., Dakbanwa, Silay City, Negros Occidental (only in the Philippines). Eventually this turned into a museum. It is  known for its horrifying stories about spirits and ghosts. We were not able to get inside the museum because it's closed during Mondays.

Till our next laag!

XOXO,
