Tan-awan Cangcua-ay Beach- Modern Villa De Luxe, Oslob, Cebu

Oslob is a surprisingly great paradise of the most natural seascape and laid back scenery. The municipality which lies at the southern tip of Cebu has been known to be the haven of the enormous sea creature, Butanding (Whale Shark). Tourists consider this a must-see whenever you are in Cebu not to mention the close encounter one would experience when diving with these seemingly-fierce-yet-friendly sharks. Despite this interesting fact, there are still a lot of people who do not know of the finest beaches in this town.

Tan-awan Cangcuay Beach- Modern Villa De Luxe is one of the most talked about summer getaways in Oslob which even became trending in social media among Cebuanos. It is a private resort situated along South National Road. Its accessibility, affordability and forward-looking feedback are just few of the reasons that trigger curiosity.

Oslob is a three-hour drive from Cebu City. When taking a public transportation, you need to get a bus ride from South Bus Terminal with the destination "Bato-Oslob". Since the resort is just near the highway, it is very easy to find with its conspicuous signage alongside Seafari Resort. If you happen to ride on a bus bound for Oslob only (which actually happened to our group when we went there), you have to take note that it will disembark at the town's marketplace where you can take the jeepney going to Cangcuay Beach. Don't worry if you ever get lost, the locales there are really friendly and accommodating. No worries!

As a stopover, you may choose to visit one of the oldest churches in Cebu, Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Conception, which is a walking distance from the marketplace. The antiquated architectural design seems to take you back to that Spanish era experience. Its facade translates a rich cultural heritage.

After a taste of history, it is time to move forward to some real beach fun under the sun! Arriving at Tan-awan Cangcuay Beach, you might wonder where the shoreline rests among the lush thickets you see on a bird's eye-view. You could only see the blue seawater that seems to glitter under the sun. Aside from the dense foliage, you could also see Sumilon Island from afar.

View of Sumilon Island from here!

Getting to the resort itself is kind of exhausting (for a couch potato) because you have to take 200 or more steps (we stopped counting at 200. LOL) With the sun's glaring heat, it is literally breathtaking to go upstairs or downstairs (well, either ways can be taxing).

While moving downstairs, you would pass by deluxe rooms for overnight accommodation. There are only three rooms available for use as of this time. Facing the horizon, the rooms seems to hang by a cliff. There is no greater feeling than waking up to the sound of the sea that brushes the shore and the touch of sunrise.  Since this is a private resort, the rooms are actually part of the luxurious residence. It is fully furnished and air-conditioned. Indeed, an ideal home away from home!

Once you reach the main part of the resort, it is figuratively breathtaking! The untouched scenery of the connecting terrains of land and sea is awesome beyond compare.

Just a piece of advice, if you wish to use the cottages or tables, you have to be there early especially during weekends or holidays since the resort does not have day-use reservations. It tends to get a little crowded during summer but there are shaded places where you could settle for lunch or what have you. There are only 4 cottages and several table sets on the shore.

The place seems to have two sections. Facing the shore, the left side of the basement (next to Seafari Resort) is not well-maintained. Garbage and withered twigs and leaves are deposited on this area. Meanwhile, the opposite side is spotless! This is the portion where you could find the hammock and huge rock formations that seem to float especially with high sea level. So you know where to go!

The left side where this terribly awesome and friendly Labrador strays; I don't think he's homeless though. He loves to fetch and take commands from anyone which confused us as to who really is the owner. We never knew his name hmmm...so we thought it's Blacky or Whitey! LOL.

The crystal clear water is so tempting for a refreshing dip. The water feels a little nippy beneath the large boulders. The resort is not as developed and commercialized as Seafari Resort so you would not expect a restaurant or a convenience store  for your immediate needs near the area. There is a small store that sells few commodities but with prices doubled (as compared with standard retail price). Toilets, bathrooms, and shower facility are available.

Tents for rent are also available for those who wish to go on an overnight stay by the basement or garden area of the resort. They also offer boat ride for Php 3, 500 (good for 16 pax) to Sumilon Island or for whale watching but this does not include fee for the butanding sight-seeing. Snorkels and life vests can also be rented for Php 50 -Php 100.
